Navigate to "HP.com" At the website you can design and specify your own personal laptop computer.

Select the "Laptops & Tablet PCs" option from the left side of the screen. This takes you to a new selection screen

Select the type of laptop you would like from mini, everyday computing, ultra-portable and high performance. This brings up the base laptop packages of the particular option you chose.

Select the particular model of HP laptop you want, then click "Customize & Buy."

Chose the Windows operating system you want and click Next. Select the processor speed, followed by amount of memory and size of hard drive. You can also adjust your graphics card, video display and disk drive (change to a faster speed DVD burner or even a Blu-Ray burner).

Add features such as HDTV tuner, battery size, software or additional display monitors.

Click "Review & Buy" when you have completed you design, then click "Add to Cart." Follow the remaining prompts to completely your HP laptop purchase.
