The first thing to consider when wrapping a gift using a shirt is the occasion. This is going to set the tone for the type of shirt you are going to use. If the gift is being given for a birthday, you might consider going with a sports team and use a football, baseball, or hockey jersey. If the occasion is to celebrate an anniversary, you could choose a Hawaiian print shirt or white linen shirt that is reminiscent of a vacation or honeymoon. You might also choose to use a nice business or polo shirt. It is also important to use a shirt that is going to be large enough to wrap the gift.

After you have a designated shirt, think about what gift is being given. For example, if the recipient is celebrating a birthday and you go with a sports jersey, you might surprise your man with tickets to a sporting event or an autographed game ball. When using the jersey, spread the shirt out so that the front is faced down. Fold the sleeves into the center of the shirt, overlapping one another and then complete each side with a half fold so the sides are even. Bring the bottom of the shirt up three-quarters of the way and then finish with a double fold so it reaches the center.

To keep the shirt in place, there are a number of things that can be used. An over-sized safety pin, purchased in gold or silver, can be used, and it can hold a small card to accompany the gift. Of course, ribbon is always a nice option and can be purchased at a fabric or craft store in a variety of different colors and patterns. If you are giving a rather small gift, consider placing the gift in the center of a T-shirt and rolling up the shirt as if it is a scroll. The scroll can then be tied in place with ribbon. The best part about wrapping gifts in shirts is that the recipient will be pleased to know that he gets to keep the shirt as a part of the gift. It turns out to be two gifts in one.
