Plant bushes (or shrubs) along the front of the brick fence. Consider what bushes you find appealing, and how quickly they will grow. There are a wide variety of sources where this information can be obtained, including a local nursery. A mature plant will grow quicker. A younger plant will be less expensive, but will take longer to grow and cover the fence. Among the most popular bushes to plant along a fence are lilacs and roses.

Plant vines along the fence. There are a wide variety of vines to choose from. Consider what vine you find attractive, and how quickly it will spread upward to hide the fence. Planting vines over bushes has the additional benefits of requiring less maintenance and taking less time to grow.

Be creative and use your imagination. There are a many ideas of how to give a brick fence a different look. Among those are painting it green to blend in with the grass and plants. Another is painting the fence the same color as the exterior of the house (or shed) to make it less noticeable. Combine different styles and colors in the brick fence. If done creatively, this can also make the brick fence more attractive to the viewer.

Place various objects along the top of the fence or in front of the wall. It's true this won't hide the fence, but it will provide a different look than a plain, drab wall. Place flowerpots on top of the fence. Place lawn objects such as a birdbath in front of the fence. Be clever and have a fertile mind.

Tips & Warnings
When choosing vines, decide if you want an annual vine or a perennial vine. An annual vine is good for one year, and easier to remove. A perennial is permanent, and will not require replanting each year. Give the bricks a year to cure before painting. Bricks are made of materials that can seep out and stain the paint.
Make sure the bushes you select will not undermine the foundation of the fence.
