How to Download Games to iPod Touch

The iPod Touch is more than a portable audio and video player. You can also browse the Web and play games on the device. In order to play games on your iPod Touch, you must first download and install those games onto the device. Games can be downloaded and then added to your iPod Touch by using the iTunes software program. You can also download and install games whenever your iPod Touch is connected to the Internet.

Instructions

    iTunes

  1. Step 1

    Plug the iPod Touch into the computer.

  2. Step 2

    Open iTunes.

  3. Step 3

    Click the link named "iTunes Store" on the left side of the software program. The iTunes Store will open in the middle of the program.

  4. Step 4

    Place your cursor over the "App Store" button at the top of iTunes. When you do, an arrow will appear on the right side of the button. Click this button and select "Games." The games page in the iTunes Store will appear in iTunes.

  5. Step 5

    Search through the games in the iTunes Store until you find one you would like to download. Then, click on the link for that game to get to the page for that particular game.

  6. Step 6

    Click the "Get App" button at the top of the page. You will be asked to sign into your personal iTunes Store account. Sign into the account to download (and purchase if the game is not free) that game.

  7. Step 7

    Click on the name of the iPod Touch under "Devices" on the left of iTunes.

  8. Step 8

    Select the "Applications" tab at the top of iTunes. Then, every application you've downloaded will be listed in iTunes.

  9. Step 9

    Click the box next to the name of the game you downloaded. A check will be added to the game box. Then, click "Sync" at the bottom of iTunes. Your game will be downloaded to the iPod Touch.

  10. On iPod Touch

    Turn the iPod Touch on and press the button labeled "App Store."

  12. Step 2

    Press "Categories" at the bottom of the iPod Touch screen. Then, select "Games." Once you do, categories of available games will be listed (such as "Dice," "Casino" and Sports." Choose one of the categories.

  13. Step 3

    Search through the listed games until you find one you would like to download. Select that game to get to the main page for that game.

  14. Step 4

    Press either the price or "Free" button in the top right hand corner of your iPod Touch screen. Which button is listed will vary based upon the price of that particular game. When you press the button, it will turn green.

  15. Step 5

    Press the green button. The game will be downloaded and installed onto your iPod Touch.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you plan to add games through iTunes, the computer must be accessing the Internet. Otherwise, the iTunes Store won't load. Those adding games on the iPod Touch directly must be connected to the Internet in order to access the App Store.
