Instructions

  1. Horizontal Ceiling Decor

    • 1
Streamers can be hung on the celing as well as the walls.

Cut strands of crepe paper from your rolls to about six inches longer than the section of ceiling they will be decorating.

    • 2

Tape one end of each strand to the ceiling, a foot apart from each other, along the width of the room. Use one color or alternate multiple colors. Alternatively, tape the ends of the strands to a corner of the room.

    • 3
Hide any taped areas by covering them with balloons.

Gently pull the strands to the opposite side of the room and secure them on the ceiling with rolled masking tape, as you did with the first side. If you started in a corner, pull to the opposite corner or to a light fixture centered in the room.

    • 4

Place balloons over the taped areas, and secure them with masking tape on the knots.

    Crepe-paper Flowers

    • 5
Make crepe-paper flowers for a centerpiece.

Cut the crepe-paper sheets of various colors into 7-inch-by-8-inch sections. Cut at least two sheets per flower that you want to make.

    • 6

Stack two or more 7-inch-by-8-inch sheets on top of each other.

    • 7
An example of an accordion fold.

Start at one end, folding forward about 1/2 inch, and fold the entire sheet accordion-style (back and forth).

    • 8

Tie the end of a green pipe cleaner around the center of the folded paper to hold it together. It should resemble a crimped bow tie.

    • 9

Secure the opposite end with rolled tape, and repeat the process for the other two corners in the room.

    • 10

Squeeze both sides of your bow tie together, and fluff the paper layers to create a flower.

Tips & Warnings

  • Twist together two colors of crepe paper if you prefer a multicolored design with an extra decorative element. Use groups of three balloons, when possible, to hide your taped areas. For more depth to your flowers, cut some layers shorter than others to add texture. Place the flowers in dry vases or baskets at the center of your tables. To make large pieces of confetti, cut sheets of crepe paper into 1-inch-by-1-inch squares. Scatter the squares over the ground or on tables to tie the entire room's decor together.
