How to Make Elmo Birthday Party Cupcakes

Are you planning an Elmo birthday party for your little one? If so, make these cute cupcakes instead of a theme cake. Kids love them and you will, too. In addition to being cheap, these cupcakes are super easy to make. Read on to learn how.

Things You'll Need:

• Cake Mix
• Cupcake Liners
• Large Marshmallows
• Black Icing
• Red Icing
• Orange Fruit Slices
• Toothpicks

1. Prepare the cake mix according to the directions on the box. Be sure to look for the bake time of cupcakes. Pour the mix into the liners, bake, and allow to cool.

2. Ice the cupcakes with red icing. This is the base of Elmo's face. Get the icing as smooth as possible.

3. Place the large marshmallows on top of the cupcake, evenly spaced. These are the eyes and should be dotted with black icing, for the pupil.
   
   The marshmallows are anchored in the red icing, and don't fall off. If you want, you can also insert toothpicks into the bottom of the marshmallow, before putting them on the cupcake.

4. Cut an orange slice candy in half. Cut this half in half once again. Place the cut piece on top of the cupcake as the nose.

5. Draw a black mouth on the cupcakes. It is helpful to use a piping bag, but not absolutely necessary. Be careful to make a mouth shape if you do not use one.
