Host An Inexpensive Brunch

If you are hosting an event for family or friends, why not do brunch? Brunch is a great idea for any celebration and can be inexpensive. Follow these steps to make your next brunch easy and tasty.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3-4 Breakfast Items
  • 3-4 Lunch Items
  • Beverages
  • Dessert
  1. Step 1

Breakfast Main Menu Items. Choose 3-4 breakfast dishes for your brunch that include ingredients that can be used for lunch items, as well. All of the following are inexpensive: eggs; croissants or mini bagels; cheese; 2-3 packs of bacon; potatoes; 3 bell peppers; onions; plain yogurt; frozen or fresh berries; and granola.

  2. Step 2

Breakfast Ideas. Egg casseroles and frittatas are pretty simple brunch dishes. Look up a recipe online. You can also do an omelet with bell pepper, cheese and onions.

You can prepare the bacon solo and add some to the omelet/casserole. Make sure to save at least 1 pack for lunch menu.

You can mix softened butter with cinnamon and sugar to spread on croissants/bagels. Toast in an oven for a delightful brunch treat. Also, set out jelly and cream cheese.

Use the potatoes in the casserole or dice up with some onion, add salt and pepper and cook until tender.

Guests can make yogurt parfaits topped with berries and granola.

  3. Step 3

Lunch Main Menu Items. You are going to add to what you already used for breakfast to make the "lunch" for brunch. Doing this, keeps your shopping easy, the menu flows and it's inexpensive.

Use 1 dozen eggs to make deviled eggs. Just add relish and whole grain mustard to boiled yolks and refill egg whites.

Add 1.5 packs of cooked bacon to sliced turkey, washed lettuce and slices of tomato with the croissants or mini bagels for easy BLTs.

Mix cooked and rinsed penna pasta with a green pepper, black olives, chopped tomato and diced red onion with Italian dressing for a pasta salad.

Use yogurt and berries to make smoothies.

  4. Step 4

Drinks and dessert. Coffee, flavored creamers, juice, iced tea or lemonade are sufficient. Dessert can be inexpensive with store bought cookies or brownies.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a store bought pound cake (sliced) and drizzle thawed berries and juice over the slices.
  • Add another sandwich to the menu with a cooked rotisserie chicken used to make chicken salad.
  • Use extra potatoes to make potato salad.
