Menopause symptoms can start as early as your forties. Most women go through menopause between the ages of 45 and 55. However, some women go through it earlier and some at a later age, usually about the same time their mother went through "the change" Here are some tips on getting you through that 4-5 year period in life called Menopause.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Personal fan
  • cool clothes
  • personal lubricants
  1. Step 1

Exercise and eat right. Isn't that the way it is with every physical problem? If we want our bodies to perform at the highest levels then we have to treat them properly and that includes exercising and eating properly. Exercise, especially if done outside, can really help improve your mood as well and that is something that comes with menopause, bad moods. When we eat properly we can stabilize our blood sugar which again, can stabilize our moods. Things like caffeine and alcohol can trigger hot flashes that are common during menopause and also increase our mood swings.

  2. Step 2

Use lubricants when making love. There are many hormonal changes that occur during menopause and those changes can cause women to produce less moisture which can equate to painful intercourse. If you just don't have anything else, you can use vegetable oil but there are plenty of lubricating creams and jellies that you can find at any drug store or grocery store.

  3. Step 3

Keep cool! This is a lot easier said than done since the body is again dealing with changing hormones responsible for keeping us at level temperatures. However, you can dress for success by wearing loose clothing or layers that can be easily removed. You can also find wood and paper fans or little battery operated fans that you can carry with you too keep you cool while you are experiencing hot flashes. You might even want to keep a spray water bottle close by so you can give yourself spritz.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you find yourself unable to deal with the symptoms of menopause, contact your doctor for help.
  • Make sure you get plenty of calcium to help prevent osteoporosis.
  • Discuss "the Change" with your doctor.
