Things You'll Need:
- Ripe Pineapple
- Sharp Knife
- Cutting Board
-
Step 1
Ripe PineappleBegin with a ripe pineapple. You can tell that a pineapple is ripe by smelling it. It should smell fruity and sweet. You can also tell by the color. It should be more yellow than green.
-
Step 2
Twist & PullStart by holding the pineapple with both hands. Grab the top of the pineapple and twist it off. A quick twist and pull should do the trick. Then place the pineapple on a cutting board.
-
Step 3
Begin to peel the pineapple by placing the knife at the top of the pineapple and working your way down in long slices. If you don’t get all the peel off in one slice don’t worry. You can always go back and peel of the parts you missed. Rotate the pineapple and continue peeling.
-
Step 4
Continue rotating the pineapple and peeling around the entire fruit. When you are done, inspect the fruit for any parts you may have missed.
-
Step 5
Cut both ends off to ensure there is no peel left on the pineapple.
-
Step 6
Turn the pineapple over and look for the core or center. The core of the pineapple is usually too tough to eat. Begin slicing the pineapple by place the knife just off center so as to miss the core.
-
Step 7
Continue cutting around the core until all you have left is the core.
-
Step 8
Now you are ready to dice, chop or slice the pineapple in any way you like.
-
Step 9
Freshly cut pineapple.Enjoy!

on 10/10/2009 You do indeed have the best way to slice and cut pineapples. I use a similar method to yours, and it works beautifully, learning from my parents, and my grand parents. This is the best way to do it. Thanks for sharing this. 5*.
