How to Check Unclaimed Property & Money

There are many reasons property is left unclaimed, but usually it is due to a relocation with no forwarding address. Companies are required by law to report any funds unclaimed by the rightful owner. The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators can help you find your property.

Instructions

1. Visit the website of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators at unclaimed.org. The portal will direct you to the correct website for your state. If you lived in several states, check all that apply.

2. Be redirected to the state website you will need to use. Each state maintains a different listing.

3. Enter you name to bring up potential claims. Use any names you have used. Maiden names, nicknames and alternate spellings should all be tried.

4. Follow the state's instructions to file a claim.
