As long as you have a small sunny spot, such as an apartment balcony, you will have all the space you need. Some roses can even adapt to sunny indoor surroundings. Things You'll Need

  • Large deep pot and saucer
  • Gloves
  • Rosebush of your choice (cannot be a climber unless you include a trellis)
  • Rich soil
  • Small rocks/pebbles

      Put on the gloves to protect you from the the rose thorns. Take the pot, put it in its saucer, and fill the bottom of the pot with the rocks. This allows for good drainage, which is necessary for the rose's health.

      Fill the pot about halfway with soil. Mkae a depression for the rose's roots and put it in the pot.

      Holding the rose upright, fill the pot completely with soil. Make sure that the rose's crown is at least 1 inch underneath the soil. If the rose is going to be outside in colder climates, put the crown 2 to 4 inches underneath the soil.

      Water your rosebush thoroughly and give it a small amount of fertilizer to give it a boost.

      Water your rose whenever the top two inches of the soil is dry, and fertilize it once a month. There are rose fertilizers available that work well.
