One of the easiest ways to brew your own loos leaf teas is with a French press. It lends itself to easy setup and cleanup.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Loose leaf tea and/or herbs
  • French press
  • Teaspoon
  • Pot to boil water
  1. Step 1

Purchase your loose leaf tea at your local natural grocery store or specialty shop. Loose leaf teas and herbs can also be purchased online.

  2. Step 2

Research any herb or tea that you plan on using for proper dosage, suggestions and cautions, and to make sure it is suitable for ingestion.

  3. Step 3

Boil enough water for your tea in a pot on the stove.

  4. Step 4

While your water is heating up, prepare your French press. Remove top and screen of your press. Measure 1-2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea or herbs per every 8 ounce cup of water.

  5. Step 5

Once water has come to a boil, remove from heat. Allow it to cool off enough for the bobble to disappear. Pour water into French press.

  6. Step 6

Put top and screen back onto your press. Push the screen down so that all the leaves are submerged in the water. Leave ample rooms for the water to pass through the tea leaves.

  7. Step 7

Allow your tea to steep for 3-5 minutes or longer for a stronger tea. Often it is suggested that medicinal herbs be steeped for 15-20 minutes, to extract more of the beneficial components.

  8. Step 8

Push screen the rest of the way down, pour, and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Honey is a great natural sweetener that contains vitamins and minerals and have a quick energizing effect.
  • Put in the refrigerator to enjoy an iced tea later. (one of my favorites with peppermint tea)
  • Make sure to research anything you ingest.
