Selling merchandise on eBay can be very profitable. Imagine selling merchandise without even carrying the inventory. This is made possible by using dropshipping through a dropshipper. Dropshipping is a way to sell merchandise online without keeping any inventory. Follow these steps to use dropshipping on eBay.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First you will need an eBay account. Visit eBay.com to get a free sellers account. You will be required to have PayPal, another free service, in order to buy or sell merchandise on eBay.

  2. Step 2

Once you have an eBay account or you already have an eBay account, you will want to find a reputable dropshipper. Some require up front fees, others charge you a nominal fee every time they ship for you. Some are completely free! Beware that this step is the hardest to do. You will find a lot of scams and dead ends through this process. I would advise ordering through a dropshipper and have it sent to your home before trusting them with your customers money.

  3. Step 3

Now that you have found a dropshipper, depending on the dropshippers Terms of service, you should be able to copy and paste the product pictures on your eBay auction. Before listing the items price, figure what the item is going to cost you to buy and ship to the customer. To do this, go to the dropshippers website and create a fictional order. Place it in the shopping cart and figure the shipping. This will give you the total price you will need to pay. This will give you an idea of how much you need to sell the item on eBay in order to make a profit. For example, if you are selling a blanket that sells for $8 on the dropshippers site, and the shipping cost $5. The total cost of goods sold is $13. In order to make a profit, you must sell and ship this item, including eBay fees, for more than $13.

  4. Step 4

Once you have decided on the price you can list your item and watch it sell! Once it sells, simply go to the dropshipper website and order the product yourself and ship it to the customer directly from the dropshipper. The customer will have no idea that item did not come from you and you collect the profits!

  5. Step 5

Take caution that you are relying on the service of the dropshipper to please your customer. This can have a huge impact on your feedback score if the dropshipper is not reputable. Once you find a good niche and the right dropshipper, dropshipping can be very profitable on eBay. Good Luck!
