How to Help Your Baby's Weight

Studies have shown that babies who gain too much weight in the first six months of their life
have a greater risk of being obese by age 3. Changing just a few habits
can help keep your infant healthier in the long run

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Do not immediately offer food to a baby who is crying. Tears do not
necessarily equal hunger, and you do not want you baby to automatically
associate food with comfort. Try other things such as soothing her or
seeing if she needs a diaper change.

  2. Step 2

Do not feed your baby cereal before she is 4 months old. When
introducing cereal, it should always be fed from a bowl, not the bottle!
Feeding her from a bowl will help encourage proper portions.

  3. Step 3

Let your baby discover her own likes and dislikes when she starts
eating solids. Offer a variety of foods even if it's not something that
you or your partner likes. The more healthy food options she is exposed
to, the more likely she is to learn to like them and eat well.

  4. Step 4

Never force your baby to finish her bottle or baby food. Watch for her
    fullness cues!
