Gift Baskets for an eCommerce Website

  1. Step 1

Decide on the type of gift basket you want to make. For example, will the gift baskets contain non- perishable foods, personal care items, or coffee and tea. Knowing what type of gift basket you want to build will help you decide where you will purchase your items for your gift baskets and how you will store the items.

  2. Step 2

Decide on the type of containers you will use to build your gift basket. Such as wicker baskets, tin baskets, or decorated cardboard boxes. You can find wholesalers that sell a variety of gift basket containers online and many have stores on ebay.

  3. Step 3

Purchase cellophane wraps and ribbons for wrapping your gift baskets. Consider purchasing pre-made bows and small blank gift cards for an added touch.

  4. Step 4

Purchase the fillers for your gift baskets. These can be different sized styrofoam blocks, or multi-colored shredded or tissue paper.

  5. Step 5

Place fillers inside the gift basket using a combination of styrofoam blocks and shredded paper.

  6. Step 6

Split the gift baskets into sections when placing the items inside, tall items place in the back of the gift basket, medium items place in the middle and on both sides of the basket, short items place in the front of the basket, and small items place in the front in the very center of the basket.

  7. Step 7

Secure the basket with cellophane, ribbons, and a bow. Take digital pictures to upload to an eCommerce website.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use double-sided tape to keep items in place. Use tissue paper, silk flowers, leaves, or fruit to fill empty spaces. Coordinate the colors of the fillers with the items in the basket.
