Procedure

1
Start by making the shell. Cut two circles out of the dark green felt. One piece should be about the size of your back (or the back of the person wearing the costume). Cut another circle about three inches wider around than the first circle.
-
2
Glue the edges of the two circles together with fabric glue. Leave a large enough opening so that you can stuff the two circles with your batting. Stuff it and glue the opening together.

3
Cut several light green octagons out of the light green felt. You need enough to cover the entire shell. Glue the octagons onto the shell. Put the green shell on the center of the back of your sweatshirt. Attach it with safety pins.

4
Cut two small circles out of the light green felt. Then glue the two googly eyes onto the small light green circles. Glue the eyes to to top of the hood on the sweatshirt.
-
5
Cut a large oval out of the tan felt. Glue this to the front of the hooded sweatshirt. Draw a large squiggly cross with a brown fabric marker (this will look like shell lines).

Tips & Warnings
Use face paint and color your face green. You can stuff the shell with crumpled up newspaper. If you want to be more creative, change up the colors. Try being a blue turtle instead.
