Step1
Schedule a few time-outs during the holiday season for just the two of you.
Step2
Write the dates on the calendar and stick to them; otherwise you're sure to forget them in the bustle of shopping, family gatherings and office parties.
Step3
Spend the time doing what really pleases the two of you, whether it's snuggling in front of a fire with a bottle of champagne, strolling around town gazing at Christmas lights, or hitting the ski slopes.
Step4
Book any needed reservations and event tickets well in advance. That way you'll be committed to the time, and you'll avoid the last-minute disappointment of sold-out inns, flights, etc.
Step5
Make time for two by sending the kids to Grandma's house, hiring a sitter or bartering baby-sitting time with friends.
Step6
Send holiday houseguests off on their own for a day, equipped with maps, guidebooks and passes to local attractions. While they're gone, you can focus on your own local attractions.
