Consider what kind of tires you want. If you race, go off-roading or live in an area that experiences great snowfall, there is a certain type of tire for you. If none of these apply to you, then perhaps you want an all-weather tire. You may even prefer to just replace the tires you have with the same ones from the manufacturer.

Check the current tire to determine size. There should be a series of letters and numbers going around the tire in raised lettering. The code also could be printed on the tire. If you want to replace the tires with factory tires, take this code to a tire store to have them ordered.

Research special-duty tires. If you want racing, off-roading or snow tires, research the ratings of the tires. Most tire websites will indicate what kind of tire it is and its size. Tires differ in their tread, appearance and performance level.

Prepare to invest more money if you want to get tires much larger than the factory size. You will have to pay for bigger wheels and pay for them to be calibrated to your truck.
