Step 1
Choose an area to plant the plumerias that receives full sun to light shade and has well-drained soil.
-
Step 2
Dig a hole as deep as the root ball and two to three times as wide. Place the plant in the hole, then fill it halfway with soil. Water the area well to settle the soil and eliminate air spaces. Allow the water to drain, then completely fill the hole with soil. Water again thoroughly.
-
Step 3
Water the plant on a regular basis. Established plumerias require at least 1 inch of water (by rain or by watering) each week.
-
Step 4
Feed plants every other week during the growing season with a fertilizer containing a high amount of phosphorus.
-
Step 5
Shape plumerias as necessary by pruning in the spring.
-
Step 6
Check plants on a regular basis for pests such as mealybugs, spider mites or white flies. To control pests, apply a horticultural oil or insecticidal soap available at home improvement or gardening stores.
