How to Configure Winmx
WinMX is a computer program designed to let users share files with each other. Instead of uploading a file to the Internet for people to download (a time-consuming process), users can simply connect directly to other computers to get files in a quicker, more efficient way. For WinMX to function properly it must use a few basic settings. By changing just a couple of simple things you can have WinMX uploading and downloading files in no time.

1
Open WinMX. Click on the "Tools" icon in the upper right corner of the screen. This will bring up a list of program settings that you can change to make WinMX run more efficiently.
-
2
Change the limit on "Uploading" to the highest possible setting. In order for WinMX to function properly you cannot only download files - you must also share them. This is accomplished by uploading, which is the process of users connecting to your computer and sharing the files you have selected. If you have uploading turned off or limited in any way this can severely impact the speeds at which you can download and possibly disable downloading altogether.

3
Change your downloading speed to the maximum allowed by the program. This setting describes the rate at which the program will allow you to download files. As the name of the game is efficiency, you want to be able to download files as quickly as possible.

4
Allow incoming connections through your firewall. If your computer has a firewall set up it may be blocking incoming connections to your computer by default. This is detrimental to the success of WinMX, as users need to be able to connect to you so you can connect to them and share files. Open your computer's firewall utility and make sure you are allowing incoming connections.
