When shopping for stencils to decorate your baby's room, sometimes the desired design is not available. Wall stencils for painting a nursery can be created at home. This is a way to personalize the nursery, adding designs of your choice in an organic way or for a border. Creating your own wall stencils also allows you to change the nursery design as your baby grows.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plain stencil paper
  • Nursery design
  • Tape
  • Marker
  • Craft or utility knife

  1. Step 1

Tape the nursery design underneath the stencil paper.

  2. Step 2

Trace the design onto the stencil paper with a marker.

  3. Step 3

Put the design aside and tape the stencil with the traced design onto a cutting mat.

  4. Step 4

Cut the design out following the traced lines on the stencil paper with a craft or utility knife.

  5. Step 5

Use the stencil for making a border in the nursery or a more organic look by using it in random spots on the wall.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the created stencil and the cutout piece for an outline to create variety in the nursery. Use leftover stencil paper to create smaller versions of the original design for filler in the nursery.
  • Cut away from the body when using a craft or utility knife. Keep craft or utility knives away from children.
