Although satellite television receives its signal from satellites, while cable brings in the signals from miles of cable running through the ground or in the air, installing the satellite receiver is almost exactly the same. Many satellite providers use an RCA satellite dish and receiver to bring the television broadcasts into your house and onto your television.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Television
  • RCA satellite receiver
  • RCA or coaxial cable
  1. Step 1

Place the RCA satellite receiver near your television. Connect the cable running from your satellite dish into the "In" port of the receiver.

  2. Step 2

Plug in the coaxial cable into the "Out" port of the RCA satellite receiver. You can use RCA cables (red, yellow and white cables) from the RCA "out" port if you want. These provide improved audio and picture quality over the coaxial cable.

  3. Step 3

Insert the other end of the coaxial cable (or RCA cables) into the "In" port of the television.

  4. Step 4

Power on both the television and RCA satellite receiver. If you are using RCA cables, you need to press the "Video" button on your remote control to access the satellite channels.

  5. Step 5

Wait for the satellite receiver to scan for available signals and programming information. This process typically takes a few minutes.
