Virtual DJ is midi format software program designed to mix different beats and tracks for musical compositions. Created by Atomix Productions, this software replaced the aging AtomixMP3. Virtual DJ does not natively support Digital Music Mixer (DM^2) scratch board controller. This means that you will need to convert the software signal through the use of DM^2 to midi software. Because of this, the scratch tools might not work as well as they should, but everything else is functional.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • DM^2 to Midi software
  • Personal computer
  • Virtual DJ software
  • Digital Music Mixer
  1. Step 1

    Download DM^2 to Midi software.

  2. Step 2

Double-right-click the dm2midi_11.exe to begin installation.

  3. Step 3

When prompted to select the install location of Virtual DJ, be sure to select the proper location. It should be "C:\Program Files\Atomix\VirtualDJ".

  4. Step 4

Click "Finish" to confirm the installation.

  5. Step 5

Plug in the Digital Media Manager to your personal computer via the USB connector.

  6. Step 6

Wait for Windows to recognize the device. An icon that looks like a sideways trident with three prongs will show up in the lower right-hand tool bar.

  7. Step 7

Double-left-click the Virtual DJ icon to begin using your DM^2 controller.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use several DM^2 controllers with each one set to a different channel. This will allow you to mix multiple tracks at once.
  • If you interrupt the installation process, you might need to uninstall Virtual DJ and try again.
