How to Build an Outside Fire Pit

An outdoor fire pit is a great addition to any yard and is a simple project that can be completed in a few hours. This design can also be used as a grill.

Things You'll Need

• Shovel
• Large rocks or cinder blocks

Instructions

1. Dig out an area the size of the pit you want. Any size will work, but if you want to use the pit as a grill, make sure you can find a grate that fits.

2. Line the outside of the pit with cinder blocks or large rocks. This will help keep the fire contained. Using blocks will result in a square or rectangular pit, while rocks can be made into any shape.

3. Clear anything burnable from around your pit. You don't want stray embers causing a larger fire.

4. Build a fire, grab a chair and enjoy your new fire pit.

• Make sure you clear any dry materials from around the fire pit. A stray ember can cause an uncontrollable fire.
