1
Decide if you would like your spiked hair to look shiny or matte (dull). Your choice of product will depend on the look you want. Those who want a shiny look should use a medium hold hair gel. If you want your spiked hair to look matte, use a medium hold hair styling paste.
-
2
Wet your hair evenly and towel dry to remove excess water. Your hair should be wet but not soaked when you begin.
-
-
3
Place a nickel-sized amount of hair product in your hands and rub your hands together to coat with the product.
-
4
Work your hands throughout your hair to evenly distribute the product. If you are spiking your hair primarily in the front, you should focus on that area in the beginning to ensure that you use enough product.
-
5
Stand in front of a mirror and use the tips of your fingers to pull the ends of your hair upward. Apply additional product if necessary.
-
6
Mist lightly with a light- to medium-hold hair spay to keep the spikes from moving if you wish. You can use hair spray whether you are trying to achieve a shiny or matte hair style as it will not effect the look as long as you mist sparingly.
