Light A Closet with Rope Lights

Rope lights provide lovely lighting for any small space. Follow these instructions to install rope lights in a small or medium closet!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions

Step 1

Clean out the closet. Walk inside it and measure around the door jamb. Buy enough rope lights to go around the door.
Step 2

Take the wall mounts out of the rope light packages and screw them in around the inside of the door, as close to the framing and jamb of the door as you can get them. Install them about a foot apart.
Step 3

Foot Switch

Install the rope lights by pushing them into the mount. Make sure the power cord hangs down and can get under the closet door.
Step 4

If you have extra lights after you've surrounded the door, mount them going toward the back of the closet along the floor or bottom baseboard.
Step 5

Take your foot switch and plug the rope lights into it. Plug in the foot switch. If prefer the switch off the floor, use mounting tape to mount it at your preferred height.
