Step 1
Check out Natural Treatments. Alternative treatments for colon cancer can help control stress and help sleep issues and loss of appetite, according to the Mayo Clinic. Try relaxation therapies such as yoga or mediation, which work on healing from within. Alternative therapies such as art therapy, music therapy or movement therapy may also be helpful in easing tension.
Also, make sure to eat a healthy diet, which helps boost your body’s immunity. Eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meats. Get plenty of rest at night, which allows your body a chance to heal. -
Step 2
Consider Dietary Supplements. According to the American Cancer Society, researchers are learning more about the role dietary supplements play in preventing and treating colon cancer. Certain minerals, such as calcium, folic acid and vitamin D, may lower risks, but more research is needed. In addition, sulindac and celecoxib, which are pain medications, may lower the incidence of pulps in colon cancer patients. However, the American Cancer Society recommends that you talk with your doctor before using supplements for colon cancer.

Step 3
Talk with your doctor about Future Treatments. The American Cancer Society reports there are some very promising colon cancer vaccines in the study phase right now. These vaccines are created by harvesting the patient’s immune system cells from the bloodstream. These cells are combined with a cancer-fighting substance in the lab and injected back into the body. They may prevent colon cancer from coming back in the future, but they are currently available in the clinical trial phase only. Ask your doctor about access to these clinical trials.
