Pick a Credit Card for Students
Pick a Credit Card for Students

If you a parent and have a child going off to college, then picking the right credit card for students is a necessity. College students are piling on debt at an alarming rate. Don't let your children become a statistic.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a low interest credit card. If you can, apply for a zero interest credit card. This will be a safeguard just in case your child does not manage the responsibility of a credit card well. Rather than have the debt pile on, the low interest rate should help.

  2. Step 2

Ask for a low credit limit. Most credit card companies will allow you to decrease the credit limit on a card if you explain that it is for your child. A low credit limit will ensure that you child does not gather a large bill while away at college.

  3. Step 3

Have the bill send to you instead of your child. If you child forgets to open a bill one month, they may forget how much they truly owe. Having the bill sent to you will ensure that you can monitor their use of the credit card.
