Black stretch boots can be made into booties for women. It's the perfect solution if you find a pair of boots you love, but they're just too tight around your legs.

When you try this method, you'll be amazed at how simply you cab make a pair of custom booties!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Take out your favorite pair of tall women's boots and decide how much you want to shorten them. If they fit, then put them on and stand in front of a full length mirror to judge. If they do not fit, then simply place the boots next to your leg to determine the new length.

  2. Step 2

Mark a line for the shorter height on the shaft with blue removable painters tape. Place it completely around the shaft of the stretch boot. This will be the cutting line and you will cut above the tape. Make sure to leave about one-half inch of the fabric to turn under.

  3. Step 3

Stretch boots are usually made from a type of fabric that does not ravel. That means that you can take an ordinary pair of scissors and simply trim them to the desire length. Don't worry if the line is a little jagged, because you are going to turn the edge under once where no one will see.

  4. Step 4

Insert a needle for heavy fabrics onto your sewing machine. Use a zigzag stitch to sewing completely around the circumference of the shaft. That's all it takes to recycle tall stretch boots into booties for women. Enjoy wearing your new shoe design!

Tips & Warnings
  • Always cut a little higher than you might like, because you can go back and trim them down.
  • Experiment with the best length by using hair pins or paper clips to clip the fold with.
  • If they have a zipper, go ahead and cut through it. Then you'll have to use a needle and thread to make a stop on each side of the zipper so the zipper doesn't move all the way up and off.
