Step 1
YOU PAY FOR MORE CYCLES
Most new washing machines will offer you a multitude of cycles, remember that more cycles equals more money. All you really need is regular, permanent press and delicate. If anyone tells you otherwise they are trying to make a buck off of you. -
Step 2
TOP LOAD OR FRONT LOAD
While this arguably is the most heated debate, because truly it is up to the user discretion, I've always found that front loaders work the best in regards to keeping your clothes lasting longer and using less energy.
The caveat is that front end loaders cost more and tend to be more expensive to fix when they are broken. In addition they hold smaller loads then top loaders however the benefits outweigh the cost. I've had my front loader for almost 5 years no problems. -
Step 3
BRAND NAME OR GENERIC
This is a really important aspect when purchasing your next washer, GE and Maytag are by far the best manufactures of washing machines and tend to have the best service and the most available parts. You can go with an off brand however washing machine purchases are once in a blue moon so buy something that will last otherwise it will come back to haunt you. -
Step 4
WILL IT FIT
I know this might sound stupid but make sure you take measurements so that all that research doesn't go to waste when you've found the right washing machine but it doesn't fit in your house.
