If you have a pageant or prom dress you no longer need, you may want to try and sell if to make back some of the money paid for it. Here are some great tips on advertising your prom or pageant dress to sell.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet
  • Paper
  • Pictures
  • Measurements
  1. Step 1

    FIRST
Get the measurements of your dress. You may want to have someone wear the dress and take the measurements while it is fitted. Measure around the chest, waist, and length.

  2. Step 2

    SECOND
Take pictures. You can have someone wear the dress, which will actually show a better image to the buyer. If you do not have anyone to wear the dress, hang it for the photo. Take front and back pictures.

  3. Step 3

    THIRD
Visit an online auction site or do a search that will allow you to sell your dress. Enter your ad online. Put the measurements, the condition, color, and maker of the dress. Outline any flaws and state any facts up front.

  4. Step 4

    FOURTH
Run an add in your local newspaper or swapper. The Thrifty Nickel will allow you to place ads as well.

  5. Step 5

    FIFTH
Visit a consignment shop. They will try to sell your dress for a fee. Most shops only charge a fee if the dress sells.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take pictures.
