Making bracelets out of plastic strands, also known as lanyard, is an easy arts and crafts project to take on. You can make bracelets to wear or share them with others as personalized friendship bracelets. Although the bracelet is a small item, it is something that can be cherished for years.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Purchase three plastic lanyard strings and two lanyard clasps for each bracelet you plan to make. To add interest to your bracelet, you can get different color strings. You can purchase lanyard string and clasps from your local hobby shop or websites such as JustBeadIt.net and LanyardSupply.com.

  2. Step 2

Measure your wrist with a measuring tape to determine the length that you would like your bracelet to be. Add a couple of inches to your measurement so that your bracelet won't be too tight.

  3. Step 3

Cut three strands of the plastic lanyard to match the measurements you took in the previous step.

  4. Step 4

Bundle the three stands together. Secure one end of the bundle by tying the strands together in a small knot.

  5. Step 5

Begin braiding the three strands together starting at the knot and working your way to the other end of the bundled strands. To braid the strands, simply alternate bringing the two outer strands underneath the middle strand.

  6. Step 6

Tie a small knot on the second end of the bundle to secure the ends.

  7. Step 7

Use scissors to cut the loose ends from the braided strands.

  8. Step 8

Place lanyard clasps through the knots that have been tied at both ends of the strands. The clasps will allow the bracelet to be fastened on your wrist.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add beads and charms to your bracelet as you are braiding it to add more visual interest.
