How to Make Your Own Aroma Oil & Diffuser Kits
Aromatherapy oil diffusers have become quite popular; they can diffuse scented oils through your home. However, they can be expensive and will run out of oil. Save money by using essential oils and glass jars to create your own aroma oil and diffuser kits that work just as well. They also make great gifts.

1
Collect attractive glass bottles that have wide bases but smaller openings. They do not need to have a stopper; you'll insert the reeds directly into the mouth. Small bottles work well.
-
2
Buy the reeds and essential oils at craft and specialty stores. Try a variety of essential oils; lavender for relaxation, eucalyptus for good health, and any other scents appeal to you.

3
Mix the liquid for the diffuser kit by pouring equal parts of mineral oil, fragrance grade dipropylene glycol, and essential oil into the diffuser bottle with a stopper. The fragrance grade dipropylene glycol will help the essential oil seep into the reeds and the mineral oil will help the essential oil last longer.

4
Press your thumb or a stopper over the mouth of the bottle and gently shake to combine the ingredients. It should have an oily appearance.
-
5
Place 10 to 15 reeds in the mouth of the bottle. You may need to cut them so they're shorter. The reeds should protrude about 6 inches from the mouth of the bottle. Use reeds, not wood. Reeds are more porous and will give you the maximum scent for your diffuser.
