1
Measure the space you have available. Sketch the basic dimensions of your room onto graph paper. You should also measure any furniture or other pieces you already own for your scrapbooking room, including tables or desks, bookshelves or armoires and hutches you might plan to repurpose.
-
2
Draw out your design. Consider placing a central work table in the middle of the room and a smaller workstation along the wall. You may want to include a desktop computer or space for a laptop and printer at the smaller workstation.

3
Assess your supplies. Determine how much storage you need for paper, embellishments and albums. Allow additional storage space for future supply purchases to keep your scrapbooking room design functional and organized for years to come.

4
Go shopping for large storage pieces, if necessary. Be creative about the pieces you choose. A thrift store dresser, hutch or armoire can be adapted to hold embellishments or store photo boxes. Good quality scrapbooking supply storage is available from specialty retailers; however, deep bookshelves or cubby storage units also work quite well. Kitchen cabinetry is also an effective choice for a scrapbooking room. Be sure that any piece you choose for a scrapbooking room is deep enough to accommodate 12-inch-by-12-inch albums and supplies.

5
Arrange the furniture in your scrapbook room in a logical fashion. Keep paper and embellishments near one another. Tools, including cutters, punches, pens and adhesives, should be stored near your main worktable.
-
6
Consider installing pegboard or a bulletin board above the smaller workstation. If you opt for a bulletin board, this is a great space for an inspiration board. Pegboards can be used to store scissors, ribbon and other scrapbooking notions.
-
7
Place your completed or in-progress albums onto your new shelves in your scrapbooking room. Put your paper away on shelves or in paper drawers or bins. Sort embellishments and notions into small labeled containers.

Tips & Warnings
Paint thrift store and repurposed furniture to the same color to create a unified space. Be gutsy and paint the walls in your scrapbooking room your favorite color.
