How to Set Up SBCGlobal Net Email

After SBCGlobal (Southwestern Bell Company) merged with AT&T and Yahoo, it gave you the ability to access all of the email features offered by Yahoo, right from your SBCGlobal email account. Although you can access these features remotely from the SBCGlobal or Yahoo website, you can also setup your SBCGlobal account in your own email client that is on your computer.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Open your Outlook email program. If you are running an email program other than Outlook 2007, see the link that is located in the "References" section of this article for further instructions.

  2. Step 2

    Click on "Tools" on the Outlook menu bar. Choose the "Account Settings" option. Click on the "Email" tab. Select "New" from the top toolbar.

  3. Step 3

    Walk through the email wizard to setup your new email account. During the setup you will need to create a display name for your account to help you identify the account on your computer.

    Enter your username, password, and email address, yourusername@sbcglobal.net. Select "Pop3" as the account type. Enter "pop.att.yahoo.com" for the incoming mail server. Enter "smtp.att.yahoo.com" for the outgoing mail server.

  4. Step 4

    Click "Finish" to close out of the email wizard once the new account has been created.

  5. Step 5

    Click on the "Email" tab. Select the email account that has just been created. Click "Change" from the top tool bar. Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab.

  6. Step 6

    Select the option, "My outgoing server requires authentication." Select "Log on using." Enter your username and password.

  7. Step 7

    Click on the "Advanced" tab. Enter "995" as the port number for the incoming mail server. Enter "465" as the port number for the outgoing mail server.

  8. Step 8

    Click the "OK" button to save your settings. Click "Finish" to exit.
