Spending time working outside or near your pool means a lot of dirt or chemicals on your body. Odds are you don't want these things brought into your home. One of the best solutions for this is to install an outdoor shower. Outdoor showers can be just as useful and comfortable as an indoor shower. While it may take some time for you to be comfortable with showering outdoors, building an outdoor shower is relatively easy to do.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Five 11-foot 8-inch four-by-four posts
  • 48 4-inch wide, 8-feet long fence boards
  • 12 4-foot long two-by-fours
  • Two 3-foot long two-by-fours
  • Two 6-foot long two-by-fours
  • Wood screws
  • Post hole digger
  • Cement mix
  • Drill with screw bit
  • Level
  • Hinges
  • Latch
  1. Step 1

Measure out a 4-foot by 4-foot square. At the corners of the square, dig four holes with the post hole digger that are 18 inches deep.

  2. Step 2

Mix the cement with water until it is the consistency of mud. Place four posts in the holes and make sure they are level. Place the cement around the posts and let the cement dry.

  3. Step 3

Once the cement is dry, measure 1 foot down from the top of the posts and place the top of one of the 4-foot two-by-fours at this mark. Attach the two-by-four between two of the posts. Repeat this on three sides.

  4. Step 4

Measure 1 foot from the bottom of the posts and place the bottom of one of the 4-foot two-by-fours at this mark. Attach to the posts using the wood screws. Repeat this on the same three side as the top braces.

  5. Step 5

Measure 2-feet and 7-9/16 inches down from the bottom of one of the top braces and place the top of one of the 4-foot two-by-fours at this mark. Screw in using wood screws. Repeat on the same sides as the other bracket. You should now have a three-sided open box.

  6. Step 6

Starting on one side and working your way around, place the fence boards on the two-by-fours, right next to each other, 12 per side, 1 foot off the ground. Attach the fence boards to the two-by-fours using wood screws.

  7. Step 7

Construct a rectangle using the 3-foot and 6-foot two-by-fours. This is the frame for the door. Center the remaining planks of wood on the frame and screw them in. Attach hinges to the door.

  8. Step 8

Attach the hinges to one of the posts lining the open side of the box. Place the latch on the other side so the door closes.

  9. Step 9

Dig one more hole using the post hole digger 6 inches behind the back of the shower, 18 inches deep. Place the final post in this hole, make sure it is level and fill it with cement. This will be the post where you will place the shower apparatus.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you place the shower against your house, you only have to build two walls and the door. Adjust the plans accordingly.
  • Make sure you build this somewhere with adequate drainage as water may pool on the bottom and cause slipping issues.
