Things You'll Need:
- Child's notebook
- Paper (Printer)
- Computer or Pencil
- Stapler
-
Step 1
The BIG idea: Make a durable number strip that can be placed in a convenient location for student to refer to/check his written numbers against.
-
Step 2
First, handwrite or make and print a simple number strip in your word processor(or just find a free one on the net). Use your child's favorite color(s) for the numbers. Use a font that is easy to read and form, such as Century Gothic. You can also make the numbers in a table format. Be sure that the width of the strip is equal to the width of one side of the notebook.
-
Step 3
Cut out the number strip the width of your child's notebook. For the height of the strip, make it extend at least 1" below the numbers.
-
Step 4
Laminate the strip for durability.
-
Step 5
Attach the strip (staple) to the inside back cover of the notebook. The numbers should extend out above the edge of the notebook as shown.
-
Step 6
Because the number strip is stationary on the back cover, it will be visible no matter which page in the notebook the student is on. Now, when student does work, you can remind him to look on the number strip to make sure the number faces the correct way and is otherwise written correctly.
