Step 1
The first thing you want to do is set a budget for your dress. Once you've decided on a budget you should call a variety of Bridal shops in your area. While on the phone with these shops you want to ask two important questions.
1. What is the price range of their gowns
2. Do you need an appointment to shop at their store
If the shop has bridal gowns way beyond your price range you don't want to waste your time trying on their gowns. Doing this may result in falling in love with a gown you can't afford or ignoring your budget and splurging on the gown. -
Step 2
Decide on at least three bridal shops to go to. When you get to the first shop try on a variety of styles. Doing this will give you an idea of what style works best for your body and personality. Once you know what style dress you want you can avoid other styles when you go to other shops.
Do not stop at just one shop. You can always come back to the shop after trying others. The shop attendants will make a list of gowns that you are interested so that they can easily access them when you come back. -
Step 3
Make sure you try on a veil and or tiara if you plan on wearing one on your special day. Putting these accessories on will put the finishing touches on your dress. It gives it a whole different feel and will make you feel like a bride.

Step 4
Once you've tried on several gowns and have narrowed them down, ask a friend or family member what they think. Make sure you have an honest companion that will tell you which gowns truly look best on you.
Remember this is your magical day. If you love a dress you should wear it even if it is not your mother's favorite! -
Step 5
Purchase your gown!
