Allergies are a common seasonal nuisance that can be relieved by natural remedies.

Seasonal allergies can cause headaches, itching and general discomfort. Allergy medication usually has side effects, so natural remedies for allergies are often the best choice.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Keep your windows closed. Keep outside air out of your house as much as possible, as this can bring allergens in and exacerbate allergies.

  2. Step 2

Don’t open windows or use the vents in your car. Use the air conditioning to keep allergens out of your car.

  3. Step 3

Stay indoors during peak allergy season. If you must go outside, try to avoid being outside between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m, because plants release most of their pollen during this time.

  4. Step 4

Keep your floors clean. Vacuum carpets and clean rugs and hard floor surfaces as often as possible.

  5. Step 5

Wash sheets and other bedding often, preferably weekly. This helps remove dust mites and other allergens from building up.

  6. Step 6

Hire someone to mow your lawn and work in your yard. If you suffer from allergies, stay away from grass and other allergy triggers.

  7. Step 7

Shower at night. This removes the pollen that has built up during the day and helps prevent allergies from flaring up.

  8. Step 8

Wash your hands and frequently used surfaces such as telephones and computer keyboards. This is a great remedy for allergies as it reduces the pollen you come into contact with.

  9. Step 9

Use a Neti Pot or other salt water rinse. A Neti Pot sends salt water through your nasal passage, removing pollen from your nose. This reduces your allergic reactions.

  10. Step 10

Try foods with omega-3 fatty acids. A study has shown that those who consume plenty of omega-3 fatty acids were less likely to suffer from allergies. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in fish, eggs, flaxseed, and walnuts.

  11. Step 11

Use local honey. Local honey will contain small doses of local pollen, which can help your body build up immunity to the pollen and provide a remedy for allergies.

Tips & Warnings
