Step 1
Determine which type of landscaping edging you are looking for. Brick edging, concrete edging, plastic edging, and wooden edging are just a few types available for sale. By this point your probably already have an idea of what your looking for, but if that's not the case, look through some home and garden magazines to get an idea of the different types of landscape edging available. Landscapeedgingart.com also offers a breakdown of almost every kind of landscape edging and their uses and benefits.

Step 2
Measure the length of area you plan of edging. This is easily done by taking a piece of string and laying it along the entire length of your planned route. When you are done curving around, gather the string up and measure it against a tape measure. Lawn edging normally comes in packs of 3 or 4 foot sections. However, some types come in rolls or individual pieces(bricks).

Step 3
Head to your neighborhood garden center or home supply store. Hardware stores will also carry landscape edging if they have a gardening department. But they normally only have rolls of cheap plastic edging. If they don't have the type of landscape edging you are looking for, ask them if they are able to order it for you. Many times they can order more styles than they have on display. They usually only carry the most popular edging or what they have room for.

Step 4
Log onto the internet and visit Hardware World's website. They have a complete section dedicated to landscape edging. You can buy anything from plastic trim edging to steel anchor landscape edging. Most edging comes in sections and has to be connected during installation.
