Change Your Car Oil
Change Your Car Oil

You will learn how to change your cars oil

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • plastic oil drain pan
  • new oil filter
  • wrench (size depends on your cars oil drain bolt)
  • new car oil(Synthetic 10W-30 or 10W-40 is a good choice)
  1. Step 1

First you want to jack your car up high enough for you to be able to get under it. Then locate the bolt that will drain the oil. It should be around the oil pan. Make sure its the bolt that drains the motor oil not the transmission oil.

  2. Step 2

Place the plastic oil pan underneath the oil drain plug and with a wrench turn the oil bolt (plug) counter clock wise. Let the oil run out of your motor for a while. Once you see that the oil has just about to stop dripping, you may twist the bolt right back on.

  3. Step 3

Next thing you want to do is to locate the oil filter. Some car u may be able to pop the hood and reach down towards the back of the motor and see it. Some you may have to get under the car and find it. See image to see what it looks like. I have seen them in so many colors such as black, orange, red, blue, white, etc.

  4. Step 4

Once you have found it you may twist it with your hand or a filter wrench and replace it with the new filter.

  5. Step 5

Now pop the hood and pour just enough oil into the motor until the oil comes in between the holes in your dip stick.

Tips & Warnings
  • make sure your jack is sturdy
  • never put your self into a position where you will be able to get oil into your eyes
