One of the easiest way to repair damaged laminate flooring is to removing the molding, removing all the boards that follow up to the damaged piece, replacing that piece, putting the boards back in and restoring the molding. For significant damage to a flooring, this procedure is most effective. How about cases where there is scratch or a small nick in a piece? Putty, wax, crayons, and markers that are color-color matched can hide flooring imperfections that are not significant. There is one additional procedure available for cases in-between significant floor damage and marks and imperfections.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

For cases in-between, the first step is to cut off a piece of laminate from a left-over piece (preferably left-over from a piece cut). This piece should be just large enough to cover a scratch or imperfection. Try to cut a piece that matches the grain direction of the laminate.

  2. Step 2

The next step is to sand down the backside of the piece with a piece of fine-grained sandpaper to make sure the backside is smooth and even.

  3. Step 3

Apply glue to the backside of the piece and apply the piece to the damaged portion of the floor.

Tips & Warnings
  • The smaller the piece, the more level it is, the more likely it will blend with the main piece.
