Your oil-burning furnace will work properly only if it is primed. Pumps often lose prime if the oil tank runs dry or if froth or air forms in the lines for other reasons. A Beckett oil burner has a dedicated feature called Prime Mode that automatically sets about reestablishing prime if it is lost.
Step 1
Turn up your thermostat to ignite the burner.

Step 2
Press and hold the "Reset" button for 15 seconds or until the yellow light turns on. Release the "Reset" button to restart the burner.
Step 3
Press and release the "Reset" button again quickly, while the igniter is active, to prime the pump. The yellow light turns on to indicate that you have entered Prime Mode. The burner remains in Prime Mode for four minutes or until you manually exit it.
Step 4
Purge or bleed the pump until all bubbles and froth are eliminated. Gently loosen the bleed screw to purge or bleed the pump. The screw is on the front of most Beckett oil burners. Consult your manual for the exact location on your model.
Step 5
Press and hold the "Reset" button for at least one second to manually exit Prime Mode, or wait the full four minutes for the burner to automatically exit Prime Mode.
