How to Make an eBook
An eBook is the electronic form of a printed book that readers download from a website or store on a CD, DVD or hard disk. EBooks are quickly becoming effective marketing tools that are often easier and quicker to deliver to customers than other media. Some use free eBooks as a bonus or thank you for customers, e-zine subscribers or website visitors. For others, eBooks are a vehicle for increasing a company's visibility and selling its products.

1
Choose the subject of your eBook. Keep in mind that an eBook should provide value to its readers. Focus on information that you know the audience wants. For example, if you notice that many readers of your fitness website want to know how to get flatter abs, then a guide to better abs is a suitable direction for the book. Examples of formats for presenting this information include "how to" guides and checklists.

2
Provide content for the book. You can either write it yourself or obtain public domain content whose copyright has expired. Many affiliate programs provide free content for their affiliates to use for increasing sales.

-
3
Include affiliate links to products if one of the goals of your eBook is to make sales. This is one of the advantages of using the electronic format of a book, helping increase profits.
-
4
Drive traffic to your website by putting its link at the top of each page in the eBook.
-
5
Keep in mind that reading a long ebook can be tiring. If you have compiled a large number of pages, consider breaking the book up into several parts that make up a series.
-
6
Build the pages of your eBook using either an HTML editor or office software such as a word processor or presentation suite. Portable Document Format (PDF) is a popular choice among eBook creators because both the Windows and Mac platforms support this format.
-
7
Create an eBook cover, which is an important step to grabbing readers' attention. A variety of programs for creating a visual representation of your book is available (see Resources).
-
8
Use an HTML compiler to put the pages together into one file.

Tips & Warnings
Use software with security features if you want to prevent readers from sharing your book with others for free. This option applies to eBook authors who wish to monetize the project, as opposed to merely spread the word about their business or drive traffic to their website. Increase your eBook's visibility by entering it into an online eBook directory.
