Confronting yet another day of constipation with that distasteful laxative? Don't worry. The enema bag is here to your rescue. An enema is considered one of the most highly preferred procedures of evacuation of bowels, and it also strengthens the intestinal muscles. Generally, enemas perform an effective detoxifying process for the body. Enema bags are available in a range of sizes, such as two quart, four quart or five quart. The four quart enema bag is the most common of the different size range.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Four quart enema bag
  • Lukewarm water
  • Bedpan
  • Vaseline or other lubricant
  1. Step 1

Fill the enema bag with lukewarm water.

  2. Step 2

Apply Vaseline or other lubricant onto the nozzle end of the tube coming from the bag.

  3. Step 3

Insert the nozzle into the anus and turn on the nozzle for letting the lukewarm into the upper rectum and intestinal region. A comfortable position, if possible, is to lie face down or on one side. This can prevent cramps.

  4. Step 4

Even at the slightest desire of evacuating, turn off the nozzle and evacuate into the bedpan.

  5. Step 5

    Repeat as necessary.

Tips & Warnings
  • Upon experiencing any sort of pain in the abdomen during the procedure, turn the nozzle off and massage the affected area with your palm. These pains are usually the air bubbles that may have entered the bag, and they can be worked out.
