Who doesn't love getting freebies in the mail? I always get giggly when I open the mailbox and see a few boxes and envelopes with totally free stuff inside. Here's how to find great free samples online.

First set up an alternate email address that you will use solely for this purpose. All the companies offering free samples will request your email address and requesting these samples can generate a ton of unwanted email so it's best to direct it all to a place where it won't get in your way. Google and Hotmail, among many others, allow you to set up email accounts for free.

Spend a few minutes a couple days a week seeking out freebies. Two great sites are www.walmart.com and www.totallyfreecrap.com. (At Walmart's site, look on the left of their home page for "In Stores Now and then you'll find the link for free samples.) Also pay attention when you watch television. Some companies - Kashi comes to mind - will tell you in their commercials to request free samples directly from their website.

Check back to these sites frequently. At totallyfreecrap.com they have new offerings pretty much every day, and Walmart updates their samples sort of randomly but they seem to have new stuff at least every week. Some offers will expire quickly as they have a limited number of samples, so the more you check the sites the better your chances will be.

Tips & Warnings
You will be floored by the variety of free samples available. In one night you may get shampoo, a magazine, and self-stick notes. Just tonight I requested a free padlock, a Splenda sample, cereal and a granola bar, and a scented candle. The choices are endless and it's just plain fun getting the freebies. On some days I might have 4 packages in my mailbox.
Many of these samples come in so handy. A sample box of cereal is great to stick in a purse or diaper bag for the kids, a free shampoo and conditioner sample is perfect for a night away from home, and so on.
Not every item you request will be sent, but who cares? :)
