How to Spin a Golf Ball Back
Spinning the golf ball back like the pros do isn't difficult to do, but it can only be done in the right conditions. Backspin is created when the golfer hits down steeply on the ball. However, the green itself must be firm for a significant visual spin to occur. A soft-covered ball and quality clubs with advanced grooves also play a significant part in the shot. The most important part is to strike the ball at just the right point.

1
Play the ball slightly back in your stance. Your feet should be closer together than normal.
-
2
Open the clubface slightly. Aim the body a little to the left of the intended target.

3
Place the majority of your weight on the forward foot.
-
4
During the backswing, cock the wrist to create a steep swing. Focus on a spot on the back of the ball, and swing so you hit the ball first and not the ground. When you make contact, uncock the wrist.

Maintain a straight left wrist through impact. The harder you hit down on the ball, the higher the ball will travel and the more backspin it will have.

Tips & Warnings
To add extra backspin on the golf ball, you need to hit down steeply on the ball.
Do not attempt to add extra backspin to a ball that is sitting down or is buried in rough. The grass behind the ball will negate the grooves. The shot will be hard to control and could go much further out than you want.
