When it comes time to write your thesis paper, many students wonder how they start such a big project. For many, the thesis paper is the biggest research project they have ever done, and it can be overwhelming. As begin to work on your thesis, follow these guidelines.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep your thesis paper specific. You might discover interesting information along the way, but if is does not help prove your point, do not include it in your thesis paper. A good thesis prevents reader confusion by sticking to one specific point that the entire paper uses evidence to prove.

  2. Step 2

Keep an open mind when writing your thesis paper. You may have started your research with a certain stance on an issue, only to find it incorrect. It is okay to change your thesis paper to reflect what your research has proved.

  3. Step 3

Never write in first person. A thesis paper will sound like a journal entry if written in first person, and it will lose credibility.

  4. Step 4

As you write your thesis paper, brainstorm any arguments that the opposing side may produce. Address these arguments and provide research based answers in your thesis paper.
