Before you get rid of your PSP because it will no longer play UMDs, try this simple fix. Often times the settings of your PSP need to be changed and a hard reset of the PSP is needed. These steps will tell you how to easily make the repair yourself.

Things You'll Need:

  • small screwdriver
  • 5 minutes
  1. Step 1

    The first step is to change your UMD Auto Start Settings.
    Select Settings, System Settings, UMD Auto Start, and ON.

  2. Step 2

    Once your settings have been changed, it's time to give your PSP a hard reset. Now remove your PSP battery. Push down on the battery cover, slide cover off, place finger on the battery at the top and pull back to remove. If you have trouble, use your small screwdriver to gently pop the battery out.

  3. Step 3

    Once the battery is out, put any UMD in the PSP. Make sure it is a working UMD!

  4. Step 4

    After you have the UMD In your PSP, replace your battery and cover, now your PSP should work!

Tips & Warnings
  • try downloading games and movies which don't require a UMD
  • DO NOT PRY the battery out - this could cause damage.
