Things You'll Need:
- 2 week resignation letter
-
Step 1
Keep your mouth shut. Avoid telling other employees that you plan on quitting before you actually do. Rumors have their way of making it up to the higher echelon' s of the company. Managers don't like to be the last people to know things.
-
Step 2
Stay tuned to your usual routine. I know during the last few weeks of a job it's tempting to tell your co workers and mangers how you feel about them. But refraining to do so is definitely in your best interest. Making a scene will only hurt your chances of getting a good referral from the company later on.
-
Step 3
Submit a 2 week resignation letter. This is the most formal way to quit. Your 2 week letter should be positive and brief. Make sure to thank them for the experiences they gave you and explain the reason for your departure.
-
Step 4
Send a thank you letter to your old boss a couple months after you quit. Let them know how your doing and thank them again for the opportunities they gave you. If there was any animosity associated with your resignation, this will help smooth things out as things will have settled down with time.
